Sisters Veterinary Clinic
SUMMARIZE ACTIVITIES OBSERVED:
The one year I have worked at the clinic I have observed a lot of things. I have observed: Minor surgical procedures such as abscess drainage and fatty tumor removal. Major surgical procedures such as neuter and spay, teeth removal, and repairing an ACL. After the surgeries I stay to watch how the cleanups of the instruments are done and where they go in a clinic. Office procedures such as interacting with clients through chart note taking with a veterinary technician also explain procedures to them, and daily cash chart at the end of the day. As the animal caregiver at the clinic I clean out kennels, feed the animals according to the owner. I have medicated the boarders for example injection of insulin, and gave pills orally to dogs and cats. I weight animals as they come in to board and also take there temperature. I have seen two euthanasias. They were both emergencies. I have done laboratory work for example a fecal sample.
DESCRIBE YOUR IMPRESSIONS OF THE CHALLENGES OF BEING A VETERINARY TECHNICAIN:
I have experience that becoming a veterinary technician it is a great pleasure but with challenge throughout the career. Veterinary technicians do their best to help animals, and keep them healthy. I want to do something worth worthwhile during my life. Since I have always loved animals, a career in the animal sciences as a veterinary technician seems to be the perfect choice. Some people ask why I would rather deal with animals than with people. People are easy to help. Animals can??™t tell you where it hurts, and there is the challenge. I came across this saying at the clinic I work at ???Helping others who can??™t speak for themselves??? that to me is the biggest challenge of becoming a veterinary technician.
